Initially 5-15mg daily in divided doses.
Adult Dosage
15-40mg daily continue until the patient becomes euthyroid, usually, after 4-8 weeks, higher doses should be prescribed under specialist supervision only, then reduced to 5-15mg daily, reduce the dose gradually, therapy usually given for 12-18 months.
Thyrotoxicosis
Children: initially, 5-15mg daily in divided doses.
Adult: initially, 20-6-mg daily in 2-3 divided doses until the patient is euthyroid.
Maintenance: 5-15mg daily for 6-18 months, alternatively, continue with 20-60mg daily and supplemental thyroxine 50-150mcg daily for 6-18 months.
