Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S

Description

About

Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S is a combination drug that belongs to a class of medicines known as “Antihypertensives”. This drug is prescribed to patients with high blood pressure (normal blood pressure for adults is usually 120/80 mmHg) and to treat patients with mild to moderate chronic heart conditions thus Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S is very effective in decreasing the risk of future heart disease. Hypertension if left untreated can cause severe damage to the brain, heart, kidney, blood vessels, and other body organs and may have life-threatening consequences.

Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S is chemically composed of 2 chemicals, Bisoprolol (beta-blockers) and Hydrochlorothiazide (Diuretics).  Bisoprolol is a beta-1 selective inhibitor involved in slowing down the heart rate and conduction, as well as stopping kidneys from secreting renin involved in the regulation of blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide enhances saltwater excretion in the form of urine, this increased urine output helps control high blood pressure. The dosage of Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S is initially set at low potency and gradually increased over a few weeks.

A tablet per day is commonly prescribed to patients to be swallowed with water either with or without a meal. Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S is to be taken regularly, preferably at the same time each day a few hours before bedtime to help the patient remember their daily dose. The medicine starts working within 2 hours of taking it. It is important to not stop taking Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S abruptly even if the patient is no longer suffering from common symptoms of hypertension as ceasing the intake of the medicine has reported cases of rebound hypertension (the re-emergence of high blood pressure), therefore, physicians taper of the Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S’s dosage before completely stopping it. The most common side effects observed with Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S include fatigue, dizziness, and skin rash.

Indications

Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S is prescribed for the management of:

  • Hypertension

How Does Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S Work?

Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S is a combination type of medicine chemically composed of two key chemicals inducing their individual effects to help bring down high blood pressure. Firstly, Bisoprolol being a beta-blocker (Beta-1 selective) influences receptors located on heart cells and kidneys. These control the pumping action of heart muscles, called contractions, slow down its rate as well as the amount of oxygen being consumed during the process. Its second action comes through the kidney which stops the release of renin from its vessels, an enzyme directly involved in the regulation of blood pressure.

Secondly, Hydrochlorothiazide also plays a vital role through its actions exerted via the kidneys to decrease the rising pressure in blood vessels. Salt (sodium chloride) helps the body to retain water in the body which if taken in excess builds pressure in our vessels resulting in high blood pressure. These diuretics aid in getting rid of sodium chloride that is filtered through without absorption into the blood excreted out in urine and releasing extra pressure in vessels.

How to use Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S?

Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S is available in the form of oral tablets to be swallowed with a glass of water through the mouth with or without a meal, once daily. The dosage at the beginning is set at the lowest effective potency which may be gradually increased to maximum safe dose as per need after 2 weeks. It is advised to ingest Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S a few hours before going to sleep at night as this medicine may cause increased urination and might disturb your sleep. Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S is not prescribed to children, pregnant or lactating mothers nor to women who are planning to start a family. Adequacy of kidney function must be ensured to avoid complications. The medicine starts working within 2 hours of taking it.

It is advised to not stop treatment abruptly without consulting a doctor as the risk of heart failure and stroke is significantly increased without the drug. Discontinuation of treatment proceeds slowly over 2 weeks.  It is normal to experience the changes of the drug on your body after a minimum of 2 – 4 weeks in cases of treatment for high blood pressure. For heart disease, the changes in the body and blood pressure brought about by Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S may take weeks or maybe months to experience. During the treatment, the doctor may alter the dosage (either increase or decrease) after 2 weeks depending on the patient’s response to treatment and any adverse effects felt by the patient.

It is advised that the drug is taken at the same time each day, an alarm can be placed to remind patients to take Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S at the proper time each day. If the patient misses a dose of Valvozid Plus Tablet 14 ‘S, they should take it immediately but if the time for the next dose of the drug is near then it’s beneficial for patients to skip the missed dose and take the tablets as per schedule, doubling of doses has proven to cause severe side effects.
