How Does Prednicol Eye 0.2%+0.5% Drop 10 ml Work

{{Product}} is chemically composed of Chloramphenicol, an antibiotic, and prednisolone, a steroid. It stops bacterial growth by binding to the bacterial ribosomes and inhibiting protein synthesis. Secondly, prednisone helps relieve inflammation causing pain and redness by inhibiting inflammatory mediators and the invasion of leukocytes. 

Dosing and Indications

Prednicol Eye 0.2%+0.5% Drop 10 ml can be used to treat:

• Ocular bacterial infections 

Adult Dose

Depending on the severity of the infection, the dose can vary from 1 to 2 drops once a day or hourly application of drops (in severe infections). Discuss with your doctor.

Child Dose

Depends on the severity of the infection.

Elderly Dose

Regarding the dosage for the elderly, caution should be advised. Follow your doctor’s prescription.

How To Use Prednicol Eye 0.2%+0.5% Drop 10 ml

The product is an eyedrop. Always use the product as your doctor has prescribed. Use during waking hours only. Complete the prescribed course completely. Do not use contact lenses while using this medicine. Wash hands thoroughly to avoid contamination. Try not to touch the tip of the bottle to your eye. Slightly tilt your head back and hold the dropper directly over your eye and drop the product directly above your eye. Keep your eyes closed for at least a minute and with gentle movements on closed eyelids, roll over the eyeballs. 

Side Effects

Inform your healthcare supervisor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:

• Allergic reaction 
• Raised intraocular pressure 
• Thinning of lens
• Burning sensation in eyes 
• Blurred vision 
• Conjunctivitis 
• Acute anterior uveitis  
• Systemic effects are rare 

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Prednicol Eye 0.2%+0.5% Drop 10 ml
• Glaucoma 
• Viral infection of the eye
• Fungal infection of the eye 
• Damaged cornea 

Precautions

Please tell your doctor about any of the following conditions before using Prednicol Eye 0.2%+0.5% Drop 10 ml:

• If you have a history of drug-related allergies. Read the contents of this medicine carefully. 
• Avoid wearing contact lenses till the resolution of your infection 
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, are trying for a baby, or are breast-feeding
• History of damage to the optic nerve
• If you notice continuous pain or swelling or worsening of your symptoms
• Your eye(s) are sensitive to light, wear sunglasses while under treatment 
• In case of no improvement or worsening of infection, inform your doctor
• Avoid rubbing your eyes aggressively
• Do not use other topical preparations for at least 10 minutes afterward
• If you notice signs of high pressure in the eyes, inform your doctor immediately
• Do not use more than prescribed and if used longer than 10 days, monitor intraocular pressure 
•  Prednicol Eye 0.2%+0.5% Drop 10 ml is absorbed into the blood, watch out for the signs of bone marrow suppression like aplastic anemia, or other abnormalities of blood.

Interactions With Other Medications
