Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S is an antiviral medicine used to treat chronic hepatitis C infection affecting adults.

How Does Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S Work

Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S is a combination drug that belongs to a class of medicines called anti-viral. It is composed of Velpatasvir and Sofosbuvir, which works by inhibiting the important factors involved in viral replication, thereby stopping the infection process. 

Dosing and Indications

Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S can be used to treat:

  • Chronic Hepatitis C

Adult Dose

The course of treatment: 12 weeks

1 tablet (of 100 mg / 400 mg) once a day, taken orally

*In case of decompensated liver cirrhosis, ribavirin is also prescribed, also duration can be extended to 24 weeks when indicated

Child Dose

Not prescribed to individuals below 18 years of age

Elderly Dose

Regarding the dosage for the elderly, caution should be advised. Follow your doctor’s prescription. 

How To Use Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S

Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S is available in form of oral tablets to be taken with a glass of water, once a day regardless of the meal. Do not crush or chew the tablets. In case you are also taking antacids, take this medicine 4 hours before, or after taking  Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S. Strictly follow the doses as advised by your doctor. 

Side Effects

Inform your healthcare supervisor immediately, if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Vomiting 
  • Nausea 
  • Headaches 
  • Skin rash 
  • Hypersensitivity reaction 
  • Slow heart rate 
  • Weakness 
  • Extreme fatigue 
  • Memory problems 
  • Breathing difficulty 
  • Dizziness 
  • Anemia 


Please tell your doctor if you have a history of any of the following before using Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S:

  • In conditions when you cannot take  ribavirin
  • Hypersensitivity to Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S or ribavirin
  • Pregnancy 
  • Breastfeeding 


Please tell your doctor about any of the following conditions before using Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S:

  • Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S must be used with caution if you have a history of drug-related allergies
  • Before starting Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S, rule out the possibility of a co-infection with Hepatitis B
  • If you currently suffer from or have a history of Hepatitis B close monitoring is advised since Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S can cause reactivation of HBV
  • If you are diabetic, Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S has the potential of lowering your blood sugar. Dose adjustment may be done by your doctor 
  • Use fool-proof contraceptive methods while using Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S. Pregnancy must be avoided during and at least 6 months after termination of treatment.
  • If you are under treatment for HIV, close professional  monitoring is advised
  • History of heart diseases and have recently taken Anti-arrhythmic drugs like amiodarone in the last few months or presently, inform your doctor since it can severely affect your heart rate in which case an alternate is advised
  • Serological tests may be conducted periodically to check the response to this drug. Always inform lab personnel about your current medicines


Always provide correct information to the doctor about all the drugs that you are currently taking. Following drugs may interact with Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S, a few of which are: 

  •  CYP inducers like Rifampin, carbamazepine
  • Anti-arrhythmic drugs like amiodarone
  •  Steroids like dexamethasone
  • Antacids like lansoprazole, omeprazole 
  • Benzodiazepines like clobazam
  • St John’s Wort
  • Chemotherapeutic drugs like vinblastine
  • Topoisomerase inhibitors like topotecan
  • Antihypertensives like Clonidine 
  • Anti-HIV drugs like tipranavir 
  • Anticonvulsants like phenytoin, primidone 
  • Vitamin K antagonists 
  • Digitalis glycosides like digoxin 
  • Centrally acting drugs like modafinil (promoting alertness)


#1. HOW TO STORE Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S?

Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S is to be kept away from the reach of children, in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity at room temperature (below 30°C) as that tends to ruin certain drugs.


Alcohol is known to damage the liver which is already compromised in hepatitis. It must be avoided during your treatment as Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S may also cause dizziness as well.

#3. CAN I TAKE Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S  DURING PREGNANCY?

Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S is not prescribed during pregnancy due to the potentially harmful effects it can have on the unborn baby. Discuss with your doctor. 

#4. CAN I TAKE Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S WHILE BREASTFEEDING?

Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S is secreted into human milk in some amount, therefore it must not be taken while breastfeeding or discuss with your doctor. 


It is suggested to avoid pregnancy if the patient or her partner is taking Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S. Discuss with your doctor regarding fertility and related issues. Contraception is advised during the treatment and at least 6 months after the end of your treatment with Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S.

#6. WHAT IF I FORGET TO TAKE Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S?

Ocvir-V 400mg+100mg Tablet 7 ‘S is taken orally just once a day, take it as soon as you remember on the same day in case you have forgotten.
