Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml is a corticosteroid that is prescribed for patients suffering from uveitis, any eye injury, radiation, or chemical burn that may result in an inflammatory reaction in the eye. Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml is not prescribed to patients suffering from viral or fungal eye infections. Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml is in liquid form that comes packaged in a travel friendly plastic bottle.

1-2 drops of Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml is to be applied once every 2-4 hours. The dosage can be increased to two drops every 2 hours or reduced depending on the patient’s stage of illness and any adverse effects felt by the patient. Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml must be applied with clean hands, make sure the eyedropper or tube tip doesn’t touch the surface of the eye or any other surface. It is imperative that the tip of the dropper/tube and hands are always clean before the application of Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml. Make sure to shake Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml container well before each use and to replace the cap of the Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml immediately after each use.

Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml is not prescribed to patients under the age of 2 years and is prescribed to pregnant and lactating mothers only if necessary and under the supervision of a doctor. Patients are advised to not stop administering Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml once they see an improvement in symptoms without consulting an ophthalmologist as that may lead to a return of irritating eye symptoms.

How Does Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml Work

Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml perfectly combines a corticosteroid (dexamethasone) and an antibiotic (tobramycin) in an eye ointment used to fight off bacterial eye infections. With the combination of these two chemical groups, Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml can prevent the multiplication of the bacteria and reduce and eye swelling at the same time.

How To Use Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml

Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml must be applied with clean hands, make sure the eyedropper or tube tip doesn’t touch the surface of the eye or any other surface. It is imperative that the tip of the dropper/tube and hands are always clean before the application of Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml. Make sure to shake Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml container well before each use and to replace the cap of the Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml immediately after each use.

To apply Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml, pull the head back slightly, then the lower eyelid is pulled down to create a small space where a drop of solution from the tip is applied. Close eye for a minute or two after Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml application, while applying pressure at the inner corner of the eye (area near the nose) to prevent solution from draining into the nasal and/or oral passages. Do not rub or blink after applying eye drops. If the recommended dosage is more than one drop of Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml then the above steps are to be repeated.

Before applying any other eyedrop that might be prescribed along with Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml, the patient is to wait 5-10 minutes. Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml is recommended to be applied at the same time each day and for the recommended time period. Excess of Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml may be wiped clean with a clean tissue or cloth. Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml is not to be stopped abruptly even after experiencing a decrease in symptoms as Pred Forte Eye 1% Drop 5 ml is meant to be tapered off and stopping it before time may even result in a return of irritable symptoms.

Elderly Dosage 

A drop or two may be prescribed to patients aged 65 years and above. The dosage may be altered after a few days or weeks depending upon the severity of the patient’s symptoms and any comorbidities the patient might be suffering from.
