Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml belongs to a class of drugs called NSAIDs, more commonly known as analgesics. Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml is used to manage moderate to severe pain or pain associated with chronic conditions or after a surgical procedure. Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml is used for short-term management of pain with therapy not exceeding 5 days. Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml is chemically composed of Ketorolac Tromethamine. 

Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml works by decreasing the chemical mediators involved in inflammation. Ketorolac, contained in the  Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml exerts its anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and analgesic effect by blocking Cyclooxygenase (COX) enzyme involved in inflammatory pathways. 

Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml is prescribed for a short-term period only, usually not more than 5 days. Given via an Intravenous or intramuscular injection by a health care provider, the dosage must not exceed more than recommended. Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml can be safely given to adolescents and adults above 17 years of age. The most common side effects of this medication are nausea, vomiting, headache, bloating, heartburn, etc.

How does Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml work?

Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml works by decreasing the chemical mediators involved in inflammation. Ketorolac, contained in the  Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml exerts its anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and analgesic effect by nonselective inhibition of the Cyclooxygenase (COX) enzyme involved in inflammatory pathways. 

How to use Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml?

Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml is available in form of an injection which can be safely administered both Intravenous and intramuscular by a healthcare professional usually at 6-8 hourly intervals. Dosage recommendations by the doctor must be strictly followed to avoid taking excess. Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml is only prescribed for short-term relief of pain which should be stopped after 5 days or less. Your doctor may transition you to an oral tablet form for further pain relief.

Adult Dose

Single-dose

Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml may be administered as an IV or IM injection as a one-time injection of 30 mg/ml.

Divided doses

Alternatively, Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml may be administered as an IV or IM injection in divided doses every 6-8 hours depending on the pain

Acute moderate to severe pain

  • 30 mg/ml every,  6 hours (IV) OR, 
  • 30 mg/ml every,  6 hours (IM)

Maximum daily safe dose: 120 mg/day

Pediatric Dose

Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml is not safe to use in children or adolescents below 17 years of age

Elderly dose 

Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml must be used with caution in patients aged 60 and above. Dose adjustment may be required in case of impaired renal or liver function. Your physician will set the dose most appropriate for your health status. 

Single Dose

Elderly patients should start with a single dose of 15 mg/ml (Intravenous)

Or single-dose- 30 mg/ml (Intramuscular)

Divided doses every 6 hours 

 Intravenous Injection: 15 mg/ml – 6 hourly

Intramuscular Injection: 15 mg/ml – 6 hourly

Maximum Safe dose: 60 mg/day

Pregnancy use and lactation

Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml is FDA pregnancy risk category C (may be harmful to the fetus causing anomalies), therefore if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, please consult your doctor. Also Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml is secreted into human milk, if you are breastfeeding Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml is not recommended, please consult your doctor before taking it.

Contraindications

Please inform your doctor if you have a history of any before using Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml:

  • Allergic reaction to Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml or other NSAIDs

  • History of gastric bleeding or perforation
  • history of recent head injury or brain hemorrhage

  • Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml must be given to elderly patients with caution especially those with health conditions
  • Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml should not be used in pregnancy especially late in pregnancy for it may compromise fetal circulation or cause anomalies
  • If there is a history of gastrointestinal diseases such as colitis, or ulcers, it may put you at risk of gastric bleeding
  • If you are on anticoagulants, taking Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml may also put you at risk of bleeding since it delays clotting
  • Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml must not be administered before or during the surgery, it can cause hemorrhage
  • Patients with SLE or similar disorders may be at risk of aseptic meningitis
  • Caution is advised in patients with renal disease (if at all prescribed), liver impairment, or patients on diuretics, there’s a risk of developing dose-dependent renal failure in these patients
  • In women trying to conceive,  Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml may impair fertility hence not recommended

Interaction with other medications

Certain medications could interact with Tromit 30mg/ml Injection 1 ml and may increase or decrease its absorption, in which case, your doctor might alter your dosage. A few of these interacting drugs are given below:

LIST OF HOW TO DEAL WITH ADVERSE EFFECTS

  • Fatigue- Patients experiencing this adverse effect are advised to take deep breaths, intake tea or coffee, get a good night’s rest, and not overburden themselves for a few days.
  • Feeling drowsy – If the medication makes you feel drowsy or sleepy, stop what you’re doing and sit or lie down until you feel better, and do not rise too fast or immediately from a sitting or lying down position to a standing posture. Do not drive or use tools or machinery in case of any of these effects.
  • Headaches- In which case make sure you rest and drink plenty of fluids. Avoid the use of alcohol. Take a prescribed painkiller. Consult your doctor if the headaches last longer than a week or are severe
  • Feeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting) or diarrhea –Avoid eating rich or spicy food. It might help to take medication after food. If you’re sick, try drinking small, frequent sips of water.
  • Feeling dizzy (lightheaded) or weak –If the medication makes you feel dizzy or weak, stop what you’re doing and sit or lie down until you feel better, and do not rise too fast or immediately from sitting or lying down position to a standing posture. Do not drive or use tools or machinery in case of any of these effects.
  • Muscular Aches and Pains- A hot or cold compress can be placed at the area of discomfort to bring relief; an over-the-counter pain reliever such as paracetamol or ibuprofen can be ingested to bring ease as well. Avoid high-intensity exercise while suffering from muscular pain.
  • Constipation- Can be combated by adding more fibers to the patient’s diet, asking the patient to drink plenty of fluids, and increasing their physical activity to trigger contractions in the intestines.
  • Flatulence- This can be eased by consuming smaller, more frequent meals that don’t trigger your flatulence. Getting a minimum of 30 minutes of daily exercise has shown great results in combating flatulence. 
  • Heartburn – can be dealt with by chewing on mint-flavored gum that’ll help neutralize the acid in the body. Standing up straighter, adding ginger to the daily diet, elevating the patient’s upper body, and having licorice supplements has shown to provide relief.
  • Skin Rash- can be eased by applying soothing and healing lotions or creams such as calamine lotion/cream. Apply a cold compress to the rash to help reduce itchiness and redness caused by the rash. An antihistamine (prescribed by a doctor) is also recommended as an effective way to combat any skin rash
  • Blurred vision-  This side effect tends to go away on its own if a few days; patients are advised to not operate heavy machinery or drive any motorized vehicles in the meantime. If blurred vision persists, please contact your doctor.
  • Soreness at the site of injection- a cold compress can be used for 5 minutes to ease out the soreness.
  • Redness Of the Skin- This can be combated by applying a cold pack to the affected area.
  • Fever- patients are asked to ingest over-the-counter painkillers (such as Paracetamol), partake in plenty of fluids, and rest for a couple of days till the symptoms pass
