Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm belongs to a class of topical medicines that are composed of antibacterials (fusidane). Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm is used to treat skin infections caused by certain strains of bacteria, being particularly effective against staphylococci, Clostridium, Corynebacterium, and some sensitive and resistant strains to methicillin. Skin conditions indicated for treatment include infectious dermatitis, folliculitis, impetigo, nail infection, and others.

Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm contains is chemically composed of Fusidic acid which acts by inhibiting protein synthesis and consequently ribosomal disaggregation in susceptible bacteria. Fusidic acid due to its antibacterial activity is also used in combination with steroids to treat infected inflammatory skin conditions as well.

Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm is available in the form of cream and ointment in a tube, meant for external use only. Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm can be applied in a thin coat over the affected area on the skin with clean hands,  three to four times daily. Usually, clinical improvements can be seen in a few days and the treatment may last up to 14 days or as advised by your doctor. Common side effects of Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm include skin rash, itching, and skin dryness.

How Does Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm Work

Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm works by acting on the skin via its basic antibacterial mechanism and inhibits protein synthesis and consequently ribosomal disaggregation in vulnerable bacteria, thereby stopping the bacterial growth.

How To Use Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm

Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm is available in the form of cream as well as ointment meant for external use only to be applied with clean hands after washing the affected skin properly and gently drying afterward. Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm is safe for use in adults and children above 2 years of age. In children, careful application and monitoring are advised to avoid accidental ingestion. 

Available Potency and forms of Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm 

  • Cream (2%) – 15 g
  • Ointment (2%) – 15 g


  • Wash and gently pat dry your skin before applying the Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm. 
  • Carefully rotate and remove the cap from the tube and check the seal. On top of the cap, there is a projection to puncture through the seal.
  • Take out a small amount of {{product} on fingertips and gently rub it in to form a thin, even coat over the affected area
  • Wash your hands after application (unless dermatitis is affecting your hands), an additional amount can be reapplied if Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm gets wiped off from any part.
  •  Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm  is applied to the skin three or four times, or as per the doctor’s suggestion, avoid exposure to direct sunlight
  • Your doctor may or may not advise you to wrap the area with a clean bandage so as not to wipe it out. For less frequent applications (once or twice) a dressing may be advised.


Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm is not used for very long periods. Treatment is commonly prescribed for 1-2 weeks or more depending on the response and severity of your infection, prescribed for use three or four times a day. If there’s no improvement in your symptoms after 1 week, consult your doctor who may consider changing the medicine for you. Only a small amount on the tip of the index finger is taken out, just sufficient to cover the infected area, do not use more than advised. 

Pregnancy Use And Lactation

 Although Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm is absorbed through the skin in insignificant amounts, it is not applied for longer periods in pregnancy, therefore if you are pregnant, or are planning to start a family, please do discuss it with your doctor before using it, who will only prescribe it if deemed necessary.

If you are breastfeeding an infant, topical use of Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm is not known to show any harmful effects, avoid application of Fusil 2% Cream 5 gm on the chest/breasts or where the baby might ingest it. With regards to safety please make sure to consult your doctor first before using it.

  • Skin Rash/ Blisters – can be eased by applying soothing and healing lotions or creams such as calamine or organic aloe vera lotion/cream.
