How Does Tineacort Cream 15 gm Work?

Tineacort Cream 15 gm is suited for inflammatory skin conditions with concurrent fungal and often a superimposed bacterial infection. It works by acting on the skin via two basic mechanisms. Firstly, Hydrocortisone being a Glucocorticoid controls the production of proteins that lead to inflammation by binding to Glucocorticoid receptors and interacting with DNA sequence. Also, it controls the infiltration and migration of inflammatory cells like leukocytes. It also inhibits Phospholipase A2 which speeds up the process of prostaglandin formation, a key mediator in inflammatory reactions. Tineacort Cream 15 gm thus decreasing the inflammation.

Secondly, Miconazole through its antifungal effects on cell membrane blocks the production of the key constituent of the fungal cell membrane (ergosterol) in susceptible fungi, causing alteration in the natural structure with eventual disruption. It also increases the production of highly reactive oxygen ions within the cell, serving as a lethal blow to fungal cells.
