Avega SR 6mg Tablet 10 ‘S belongs to a group of drugs known as atypical antipsychotics, that help regulate dopamine and serotonin hormone levels in the body. Serotonin is one of the four ‘happiness drugs’ produced naturally by the body. Low levels of serotonin in the body lead to mood swings, depression, insomnia, and other mental ailments, that Avega SR 6mg Tablet 10 ‘S can effectively treat.

2-3 tablets per day are prescribed most commonly.Avega SR 6mg Tablet 10 ‘S’s dosage is entirely dependent upon the patient’s stage and type of illness and how well they respond to Avega SR 6mg Tablet 10 ‘S and therefore, each patient has a different dose customized to fit their needs best by a doctor. It is normal to have your dose altered periodically, (especially at the beginning of treatment) by a doctor to best fit the patient’s requirements. Elderly patients may ingest Avega SR 6mg Tablet 10 ‘S but ideally a lower dosage, as Avega SR 6mg Tablet 10 ‘S may worsen age-related dementia. Children under the age of 15 years are not prescribed Avega SR 6mg Tablet 10 ‘S.

How To Use Avega SR 6mg Tablet 10 ‘S

Avega SR 6mg Tablet 10 ‘S is advised to be taken with a meal (it can be a light meal) orally (by mouth) with plenty of water to help aid the passage of the tablet. It is advised to ingest Avega SR 6mg Tablet 10 ‘S before or after breakfast. Tablet is not to be crushed or chewed but instead swallowed whole.

Dosage

Adult Dosage

2-3 tablets of 6mg of the drug are prescribed to be ingested once every day, preferably in the morning time. Dosage may be increased or decreased (after a 2 week grace period) depending upon the patient’s symptoms and any adverse effects that may bother the patient. A maximum dose of 12 mg of the drug can be safely ingested by patients aged 18 years and above.

Child Dosage

A tablet of 6 mg of the drug is prescribed to be ingested once every day, preferably in the morning time. Dosage may be increased or decreased (after a 2-week grace period) depending upon the patient’s symptoms and any adverse effects that may bother the patient. Avega SR 6mg Tablet 10 ‘S is not prescribed to patients aged 15 years and below.

Elderly Dosage 

Patients aged 65 years and above are prescribed a low dosage of Avega SR 6mg Tablet 10 ‘S and when absolutely necessary, as it may worsen age-related dementia.

Pregnancy Use And Lactation

Avega SR 6mg Tablet 10 ‘S is deemed unsafe to be prescribed to pregnant and breastfeeding women. If you are undergoing treatment with Avega SR 6mg Tablet 10 ‘S and become pregnant, inform your doctor immediately, the doctor will ask you to stop using Avega SR 6mg Tablet 10 ‘S.

Contraindications

  • Feeling dizzy (lightheaded) or weak –If the medication makes you feel dizzy or weak, stop what you’re doing and sit or lie down until you feel better, and do not rise too fast or immediately from a sitting or lying down position to a standing posture. Do not drive or use tools or machinery in case of any of these effects.
  • Muscular Aches And Pains- A hot or cold compress can be placed at the area of discomfort to bring relief; an over-the-counter pain reliever such as paracetamol or ibuprofen can be ingested to bring ease as well. Avoid high-intensity exercise while suffering from muscular pain.
