Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S belongs to a group of medicines called antipsychotics. Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S contains aripiprazole as the active ingredient. Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S is used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia, and mania and to prevent mood swings. Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S is also used to treat depression.

Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S comes in tablet form and is taken orally. Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S causes symptoms such as headache, restlessness, dizziness, heartburn, and others. Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S is prescribed to adults and children aged 15 and above. Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S works by changing the activity of substances such as dopamine.

How Does Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S Work?

Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S is a second-generation antipsychotic also known as an atypical antipsychotic. Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S is a partial agonist at dopamine and serotonin type 1 receptors. Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S works as an antagonist at serotonin type 2 receptor and has alpha-blocking activity. Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S works by lowering dopamine activity where it is high and Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S also increases dopamine activity in areas of the brain where it is low. 

How To Use Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S?

Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S comes in tablet form and can be swallowed with a drink of water. Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S can be taken before or after meals. It is ideal to take the Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S at the same time daily. 

Dosage

The recommended dosage is

Adults

The recommended dose in adults is 15 mg once a day. However, your doctor may prescribe a lower or higher dose to a maximum of 30 mg once a day according to your condition.

Children and adolescents

The recommended dose for adolescents is 10 mg once a day. However, your doctor may prescribe a lower or higher dose to a maximum of 30 mg once a day according to your condition. 

Schizophrenia

  • 10-15 mg/day taken orally. The dose may increase after 2 weeks but it should not exceed 30 mg/day PO when administered as a tablet formulation: efficacy is not significantly greater above 15 mg/day

Bipolar Mania

  • Monotherapy: 15 mg/day taken orally dose may be increased gradually; not to exceed 30 mg/day
  • When taken in combination with lithium or valproate: 10-15 mg/day taken orally initially; may be gradually increased; not to exceed 30 mg/day

Major Depressive Disorder

  • 2-5 mg/day taken orally initially; dose is increased weekly by ≤5 mg/day to a dose range of 2-15 mg/day

Pregnancy and Lactation

Ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding. The following symptoms may occur in newborn babies, of mothers that have used Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S in the last trimester shaking, muscle stiffness and/or weakness, sleepiness, agitation, breathing problems, and difficulty in feeding.

Contraindications

Inform your doctor if you have a history of any of the following before using Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S:

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you have heart disease or blood vessel disease.
  • If you have suffered a stroke, or if you have been told you have a narrowing of vessels in the brain.
  • If you have liver or kidney problems.
  • If you have breathing problems.
  • If you have epilepsy, depression, Parkinson’s disease, glaucoma, or myasthenia gravis.
  • If you have ever had jaundice or a blood disorder.
  • If you have ever had an adrenal gland tumor called phaeochromocytoma.
  • If you are allergic to the active ingredient of the Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S. 

Precautions

Inform your doctor about any of the following conditions before using Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S

  • suicidal thoughts
  • High blood sugar is characterized by thirst, excessive urine passage, increase in appetite and weakness. 
  • seizures
  • involuntary and irregular muscle movements
  • cardiovascular diseases
  • blood clots or history of blood clots in family
  • inform your doctor if you notice weight gain, somnolence that hinders daily activities 

Interactions With Other Medications

Inform your doctor about the use of the following before using Adablizer 15mg Tablet 10 ‘S

  • drugs that correct heart rhythm such as quinidine, amiodarone
  • antidepressants or herbal drugs that treat depression such as fluoxetine, paroxetine, venlafaxine, St. John’s Wort
  • antifungal medicines such as ketoconazole and itraconazole
  • HIV drugs such as efavirenz, nevirapine, protease inhibitors e.g., indinavir, ritonavir
  • anticonvulsant drugs used to treat epilepsy such as carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital
  • antibiotics such as rifabutin, rifampicin

  • nervousness
  • headache
  • restlessness or uncontrollable movements
  • dizziness
  • heartburn
  • constipation
  • diarrhea

How To Cope with Adverse Effects

Restlessness

If you face restlessness and shaky movements then contact your doctor. Your doctor may prescribe another drug to lessen these effects, or your current treatment may need adjusting.

Nausea

To avoid nausea, take simple and small meals. Avoid rich and spicy food items. Rather than one large meal takes several small ones. Avoid high sugar content foods. 

Dizziness

If you feel dizzy, try to rest. Do not drive, use tools or machines. Avoid alcohol as it may increase dizziness. 

Headache

Drink plenty of water and fluids and ask your doctor for a painkiller. If the headaches persist, then contact your doctor.

Constipation 

Eat a well-balanced diet and drink plenty of water to avoid constipation. Add fiber to the diet to avoid constipation. 

Feeling Anxious

Contact your doctor if you feel anxious, have difficulty sleeping, or have increased amounts of saliva.
