Uristat 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor,essentially these drugs work by blocking the action of enzyme xanthine oxidase,an enzyme that breaks down purines into uric acid.Purines are found in various food items.

How To Use Uristat 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S

Uristat 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S is to be ingested orally either with or without food once daily.Preferably at the same time each day;patients are advised to set a daily alarm as a reminder to ingest Uristat 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S daily without missing a dose and at the same time each day.Patients are asked to intake at least 2 liters of water daily while undergoing treatment with Uristat 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S.

Uristat 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S is only prescribed in serious gout conditions where drugs such as allopurinol have been unsuccessful in bringing down uric acid levels.Over the counter painkillers (such as NSAIDs, eg Ibuprofen) are commonly prescribed alongside Uristat 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S as patients might experience gout flare ups for a few months or more while undergoing treatment with Uristat 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S.

Dosage

Adult Dosage

A tablet a day is most commonly prescribed to patients aged 18 years and above.Uristat 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S can be prescribed twice daily as well if need be in certain cases;the two doses are to be evenly spaced out throughout the day.

Child Dosage

Uristat 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S is not recommended to patients under the age of 18 years.

Elderly Dosage
