How Does Dervit-B 50mcg/0.5mg Ointment 30 gm Work?

Dervit-B 50mcg/0.5mg Ointment 30 gm is more suited for inflammatory skin conditions with concurrent patches of plaque affecting it, commonly seen in Psoriasis. It works by acting on the skin via two basic mechanisms. Firstly, Betamethasone being a Glucocorticoid controls the production of proteins that lead to inflammation by binding to Glucocorticoid receptors and interacting with DNA sequence. Also, it controls the infiltration and migration of inflammatory cells like leukocytes. It also inhibits Phospholipase A2 which speeds up the process of prostaglandin formation, a key mediator in inflammatory reactions. Dervit-B 50mcg/0.5mg Ointment 30 gm helps decrease this inflammation.

Secondly, Calcipotriol helps control the rate of production of skin cells, which in excess is causing thickened skin patches. Calcipotriol brings down this overproduction of cells.
