Description

About

Dopamine is one of the most important neurotransmitters involved in several natural mechanisms. The gastric tract also releases dopamine from the stomach and influences GIT from its upper to the lower part.  Motilium 10mg Tablet 10 ‘S belongs to a class of drugs called “dopamine receptor antagonists”, commonly referred to as anti-emetics used for the prevention and management of nauseous states. It also helps relieve symptoms of gastroparesis, a health condition that affects the stomach and normal bowel movements resulting in indigestion, nausea, and vomiting. Where it helps ease the symptoms, it also carries a high risk of serious side effects on the heart, for which reason it is disapproved in some countries like the USA, so caution is advised

Motilium 10mg Tablet 10 ‘S is chemically composed of Domperidone which works by blocking the action of dopamine (D2 and D3 receptors) and enhances the effects of acetylcholine in the gastric tract, the outcome of which is manifested in form of enhanced gastric movement and digestion as well as increased pressure in the lower part of the esophagus that helps prevent reflux of stomach contents. Through its action on the brain, it helps control vomiting too.  Motilium 10mg Tablet 10 ‘S takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour to start working.

Motilium 10mg Tablet 10 ‘S is available in the form of oral tablets on prescription to be swallowed via mouth with a glass of water, 1 tablet usually 2 to 3 times a day or as advised by the doctor. Do not crush or chew the tablet.  It works better if you take it at least 30 minutes before your meal. Motilium 10mg Tablet 10 ‘S can be safely prescribed to adults and children above 12 years of age. In case of pregnancy and lactation, ask your doctor first due to potentially harmful effects on the unborn baby. The most common side effects observed with Motilium 10mg Tablet 10 ‘S are drowsiness, diarrhea, loss of appetite, dry mouth, etc.
