How to use, Side effects, Uses, Formula & Composition

Prosotec 200mcg Tablet 10 ‘S is a prostaglandin analog that is used to treat ulcers caused by NSAIDs, manage miscarriages, avoid postpartum hemorrhage, and perform first-trimester abortions.

Prosotec 200mcg Tablet 10 ‘S works by activating prostaglandin receptors present on the cells lining the stomach wall to reduce acid secretion, stimulating these receptors in the uterus and cervix can increase the strength and frequency of contractions while lowering the cervical tone.

Prosotec 200mcg Tablet 10 ‘S is available in tablet form that is taken by mouth (orally) usually 4 times a day for stomach ulcers, and it’s taken exactly as directed for abortion.

Dosage is largely determined by the patient’s reaction to the product as well as any side effects seen during therapy. Dosage should not be raised or decreased without consulting a physician, and the product should only be used for the period prescribed.

Prosotec 200mcg Tablet 10 ‘S may produce side effects such as severe stomach pain or diarrhea, as well as extreme thirst or heat, inability to urinate, heavy sweating, or hot and dry skin.

Prosotec 200mcg Tablet 10 ‘S is used for:

  • To reduce the risk of NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) induced gastric ulcers in high-risk patients, such as patients with an underlying disease, the elderly, or patients with a history of ulcers.

How Does Prosotec 200mcg Tablet 10 ‘S Work

Prosotec 200mcg Tablet 10 ‘S is a prostaglandin E1 analog that works by reducing gastric acid output by stimulating prostaglandin E1 receptors on parietal cells in the stomach. In this process, Mucus and bicarbonate secretion rises, as does mucosal bilayer thickening, allowing the mucosa to regenerate new cells.

Prosotec 200mcg Tablet 10 ‘S attaches to smooth muscle cells in the uterine lining and stimulates the prostaglandin receptors, causing contractions to become stronger and more frequent while also degrading collagen and lowering the cervical tone.
