Spersallerg Eye Drop 10 ml is a combination drug that is made from two active ingredients; antazoline and tetrahydrozoline. Tetrahydrozoline is an alpha-adrenergic agonist used for the relief of discomfort and redness of eyes caused by irritants. Antazoline is an anti-histamine agent used for the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis.    

Spersallerg Eye Drop 10 ml is used for the treatment of nasal congestion, symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis, blockage of nasal passages, irritation in the eye, excessive ingrowth of blood vessels in the cornea, and other conditions. Spersallerg Eye Drop 10 ml comes in solution form. Spersallerg Eye Drop 10 ml may cause side effects such as blurred vision, eye irritation, headache, hypertension, drowsiness, and various others.

Spersallerg Eye Drop 10 ml can be used to treat spasms associated with:

  • Nasal Congestion
  • Symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis
  • Blockage of nasal passages

  • Irritation in the eye

How Does Spersallerg Eye Drop 10 ml Work

Spersallerg Eye Drop 10 ml is made from two active ingredients; antazoline and tetrahydrozoline.

Antazoline

Antazoline is an anti-histamine agent. It works by relieving the itchiness by blocking the release of histamine. Histamine is produced in the body due to allergic reactions.   

Tetrahydrozoline

Tetrahydrozoline is an alpha-adrenergic agent. It is a decongestant used to relieve the redness of the eyes caused by irritants. It also works by temporarily narrowing the blood vessels in the eyes. 

How To Use Spersallerg Eye Drop 10 ml

Spersallerg Eye Drop 10 ml comes in solution form and is instilled in the eyes. To use the eye drops, follow these steps

  • Wash your hands thoroughly with water and soap.
  • Check the tip of the dropper to check if it is not cracked or chipped.
  • Avoid touching the tip of the dropper against your eye.
  • Tilt your head back and pull your lower eyelid down.
  • Look upwards and squeeze the dropper so a droplet falls in the eye.
  • Close your eye for 2-3 minutes and look downwards. 
  • If you are prescribed to use more than 1 drop, then wait for 5 minutes before administering the next drop. 

Dosage

The recommended dosage is

  • 1-2 drops in the affected eye(s) 2-3 times daily.

Pregnancy Use And Lactation

Spersallerg Eye Drop 10 ml should be used with caution during pregnancy only if the benefits outweigh the risks. Animal studies show risks and human studies are not available. There is not enough information on whether Spersallerg Eye Drop 10 ml is distributed in breast milk or not. Pregnant or breastfeeding patients should consult the doctor before using Spersallerg Eye Drop 10 ml. 

Contraindications

Spersallerg Eye Drop 10 ml is contraindicated if:

  • There is hypersensitivity to active ingredients of Spersallerg Eye Drop 10 ml.
