{{Product}} is an inhaled steroid, available in a readily absorbable form, intended to prevent asthma. {{Product}} contains “Beclomethasone Dipropionate” as an active therapeutic agent – a prodrug containing anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties. {{Product}} is supposed to be administered in individuals older than 4 years of age, for the maintenance and prophylaxis of asthma. 

{{Product}} is also used off-label for the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Its major use is for the prevention of airways obstruction which is why it is known as a “Preventer inhaler”. {{Product}} clears the airways by acting on the glucocorticoid receptor. Usage of Clenil Pulvinal Inhaler 200mcg 1 ‘S is not associated with the side effects that are typically caused by corticosteroids, as it remains only locally active in the lungs.

How Does Clenil Pulvinal Inhaler 200mcg 1 ‘S Work?

{{Product}} contains “Beclomethasone dipropionate” as an active therapeutic agent – a glucocorticoid, that reduces inflammation by inhibiting inflammatory mediators. The active agent has weak receptor binding affinity and is therefore readily converted into its active form, 17 monopropionate (17-BMP), right after administration. 17-BMP efficiently binds to the glucocorticoid receptor resulting in anti-inflammatory action by inhibiting pro-inflammatory factors e.g., Cytokines, chemokines, and adhesion molecules. 

How To Use Clenil Pulvinal Inhaler 200mcg 1 ‘S?

For the first time usage or usage after three days, softly remove the mouthpiece and release the actuation to check if it’s working properly. The actuator should be taken between the index finger and thumb. Then place the mouthpiece between the lips and make a complete expiration. Press the actuation with your index finger and take a deep inspiration only once. Hold your breath if possible and release steadily. Close the mouthpiece with a cap after the actuation. 

Dosage

{{Product}} is available as a pressurized inhalation solution of 50mg. Each actuation delivers a dose of 250mcg, providing 200 inhalations in total. 

Adult Dose

From 2 inhalations twice a day to 1 inhalation 4 times a day, the therapy can be increased up to 2 inhalations 3 to 4 times a day at times of need. 

The dose is reduced when asthma is stabilized, and the total daily dose is taken as two to four divided doses. 

Pediatric Dose

{[Product}} is not suitable for pediatric use. 

Pregnancy And Lactation

Safety of Clenil Pulvinal Inhaler 200mcg 1 ‘S is not established in pregnant and lactating women. It should be administered during pregnancy and lactation only if the expected benefit to the mother is more than the risk to the fetus. 

There is a possibility of hypoadrenalism in the newborns whose mothers were on Clenil Pulvinal Inhaler 200mcg 1 ‘S during pregnancy so they should be closely monitored for this side effect. 

Contraindications

The use of Clenil Pulvinal Inhaler 200mcg 1 ‘S is contraindicated in the following cases:

• Hypersensitivity to the drug or any excipients. 
• Acute bronchospasm 
• Local viral infections
• Tuberculosis

Precautions

• Tell your doctor if you had osteoporosis, cataract, glaucoma, or tuberculosis in the past or you recently had a fungal, viral, or bacterial infection.

• People who are switched from systemic steroid therapy to inhaled steroid therapy may develop allergies such as eczema and rhinitis. The allergies are unmasked that were previously suppressed by systemic steroids. Treatment with antihistamines and topicals can be considered in that case. 
• Due to the presence of ethanol, Clenil Pulvinal Inhaler 200mcg 1 ‘S should be used with caution in patients having alcoholism, active liver disease, epilepsy, and cerebral pathologies.
