Description

About

Tiovair 18mcg Capsule 10 ‘S contains a bronchodilator (Tiotropium Bromide) that helps bring ease to patients suffering breathlessness, wheezing, and other symptoms of asthma. The drug aids by blocking acetylcholine (a neurotransmitter) and thereby, aid in expanding the airways in the lungs by helping the lung muscles to relax and expand. These actions make it easy for air to flow in and out of the lungs thereby making sure that sufficient oxygen is reaching the human body.

Tiovair 18mcg Capsule 10 ‘S is available upon prescription in a capsule, meant to go inside an inhaler, so that patients may inhale the powdered form of the medicine. To use Tiovair 18mcg Capsule 10 ‘S, first, remove the cap off the inhaler and place the capsule inside the inhaler (there is a separate area designated for the insertion of the capsule). Once the capsule is in place, the mouthpiece of the inhaler is meant to rest in between the lips, at the opening of the mouth. Patients are asked to form a seal around the inhaler with their lips and press a button to release the drug. Inhale deeply and if possible, hold your breath for 10 seconds to allow the medicine to reach your lungs.

It is recommended to rinse your mouth with water after each use of an inhaler to reduce the chance of a fungal infection. Use of Tiovair 18mcg Capsule 10 ‘S is not to be stopped abruptly without the consent of a physician as that tends to worsen the symptoms of asthma. Tiovair 18mcg Capsule 10 ‘S is a low-acting drug and therefore must be taken regularly and a minimum of an hour before any strenuous exercise.

Tiovair 18mcg Capsule 10 ‘S is safe to be prescribed to patients over the age of 18 years but should only be prescribed to pregnant and lactating women, when necessary, while under the care of a physician. The intake of alcohol and cigarette and cigar smoking is prohibited while undergoing treatment with Tiovair 18mcg Capsule 10 ‘S. Adverse effects such as dizziness, headaches, and dry mouth are commonly felt by patients, and they tend to resolve on their own in a few hours to days.
