Moxigan Eye 0.50% Drop 5 ml contains Moxifloxacin as an active ingredient. It kills bacteria by preventing them from producing the substances they require to multiply and repair themselves. Moxigan Eye 0.50% Drop 5 ml is a bactericidal antibiotic whose mechanism of action involves binding to an enzyme called DNA gyrase, which facilitates the untwisting required to replicate one DNA double helix into two. 

Moxifloxacin’s bactericidal effect is due to inhibition of the enzymes topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV. DNA gyrase is a necessary enzyme for the replication, transcription, and repair of bacterial DNA. Topoisomerase IV is an enzyme that is involved in chromosomal DNA partitioning during bacterial cell division. 

How To Use Moxigan Eye 0.50% Drop 5 ml

Moxigan Eye 0.50% Drop 5 ml must be applied with clean hands, make sure the eyedropper or tube tip doesn’t touch the surface of the eye or any other surface. It is imperative that the tip of the dropper/tube and hands must be always clean before the application of Moxigan Eye 0.50% Drop 5 ml. To use the eye drops:

1. Before applying the drops, wash your hands.

5. To discharge one drop into your eye, gently press on the bottle’s base. Use a second drop only if the first one didn’t reach your eye. 
6. Close one eye and gently press on the side of your nose where the corner of your eye meets your nose for a minute or two. This maintains the drop in your eye and prevents it from draining out. 
7. If you were directed to use the drops in both eyes, repeat the procedure in the other eye.

Adult Dosage 

1 drop in the affected eye/eyes twice a day for 7 days

Child Dosage

Children above 4months of age: 1 drop in the affected eye/eyes twice a day for 7 days

Elderly Dosage
