How Does Nebcin 80mg Injection 2 ml Work
Nebcin 80mg Injection 2 ml belongs to a widespread chemical group known as antibiotics. Nebcin 80mg Injection 2 ml works by preventing the growth/multiplication of bacteria in the human body thus eradicating the infection.
Dosing and Indications
Nebcin 80mg Injection 2 ml can be used to treat:
- Bacterial infection of the blood
- Bacterial infection of the central nervous system
- Bacterial infection of the gastrointestinal tract
- Urinary tract and bladder bacterial infections
- Respiratory bacterial infections

ADULT DOSAGE
MOST COMMONLY ADMINISTERED DOSAGE: 3MG-5MG/KG each day is administered either all together or the dosage may be divided evenly throughout the day.
BACTERIAL INFECTIONS OF SOFT TISSUES AND BONES: 3MG/kg daily is prescribed to be administered every 8 hours. The maximum daily dosage is 5MG/KG each day.
RESPIRATORY BACTERIAL INFECTION: 3MG/kg each day is prescribed to be administered after every 8 hours. The maximum daily dosage is 5MG/KG each day. The dosage is to be lowered as the patient’s symptoms improve.
BACTERIAL INFECTION OF THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM: 3MG/kg daily is prescribed to be administered every 8 hours. The maximum daily dosage is 5MG/KG each day. The dosage is to be lowered as the patient’s symptoms improve.
BRUCELLOSIS: 5MG/KG each day may be administered intravenously; or 240MG/KG may be administered each day intramuscularly, for a period of 7 days. In these cases, oftentimes Nebcin 80mg Injection 2 ml is administered alongside Doxycycline.
CHOLANGITIS: 4MG-6MG/KG of Nebcin 80mg Injection 2 ml is administered each day. In these cases, often Nebcin 80mg Injection 2 ml is administered alongside Ampicillin.
CHILD DOSAGE
MOST COMMONLY ADMINISTERED DOSAGE: 4MG/KG (or less than 4MG) of Nebcin 80mg Injection 2 ml is administered daily. Dosage may go up to 6MG-7.5MG/KG depending upon each patient’s weight, age, and symptoms. Dosage may be administered either altogether or the dosage may be divided evenly throughout the day.
BACTERIAL INFECTIONS OF SOFT TISSUES AND BONES: 2MG-2.5MG/KG every 6-8 hours is the maximum daily dosage for infant patients
RESPIRATORY BACTERIAL INFECTION: 2MG-2.5MG every 8 hours is prescribed or 1.5MG-1.89MG every 6 hours can be prescribed.
ELDERLY DOSAGE
For patients aged 65 years and above, the dosage may be altered due to decreased kidney function or any other illnesses the patients might be diagnosed with.
How To Use Nebcin 80mg Injection 2 ml
Nebcin 80mg Injection 2 ml is injected into the patient’s vein (intravenously) or the patient’s muscles (intramuscularly) by a trained healthcare professional. The area where the needle is to pierce the skin is first disinfected with an alcohol swab or any other disinfectant that the hospital has. Then the needle was uncapped, and the solution was injected into the body. The solution is injected slowly. The area of the skin where the needle enters may slightly bruise or remain sore for 24 hours. After the injection, the needle prick is pressed down (by hand) for 20 seconds to ensure there is no bleeding and then a band-aid is placed on top. It is advised to not mix Nebcin 80mg Injection 2 ml with other medicines. The patient is advised to take each dose at the same time each day keeping a 6- or 8-12-hour gap in between each dose.
If you miss a dose of the medication, make sure you take it as soon as possible on that same day. If you don’t remember you missed the dose until the next dose time or the next day, do not double the dose and take your medication as per schedule.
Side Effects

- Changes in the color of urine (cloudy urine observed)

- Difficulty in hearing
- Soreness at the site of injection
