Description

Indications

It can be used:

• For prevention of atherothrombotic events (formation of clots in arteries due to build-up of fats) in patients suffering from
• myocardial infarction – heart attack (from a few days until less than 35 days),
• ischaemic stroke – blood clot that blocks the vessel in the brain (from day 7 until less than 6 months) or 
• established peripheral artery disease (narrowed arteries reducing blood flow to limbs)
• In combination with aspirin in non-ST segment elevation in acute coronary syndrome; when heart muscle can not function properly or dies due to decreased blood flow in the arteries supplying it (unstable angina-chest pain or non-Q-Wave MI-heart attack).

How does Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S work?

It is an antithrombotic agent used for prevention of heart attacks and strokes. It helps decrease the chances of having another heart attack or stroke in patients who have a history of a heart disease. Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S works by decreasing the formation of blood clots by preventing platelets from sticking together. Thereby, lowering the chances of heart attack or stroke.

How to use Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S?

• Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S is available as tablets.
• Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S is usually prescribed to be taken once a day around the same time every day, with or without food. 
• Take Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S as prescribed by your doctor. 
• Do not chew or crush the tablet.
• To allow your body to adjust to the medication, your doctor will probably start you on a low dose of risperidone and then gradually increase it with time.

• 75mg
• 300mg

 

Usual dose is 75 mg daily with or without food.

Non-ST segment elevation acute coronary syndrome: 300 mg loading dose followed by 75 mg daily given in combination with 75-100 mg aspirin daily.

Doses are modified accordingly if a patient has renal or hepatic impairment.

Pregnancy use and lactation

If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, please consult your doctor before using Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S as it is contraindicated.

If you are breastfeeding, please consult your doctor before taking Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S as it is contraindicated.

Contraindications

Please inform your doctor if you have a history of any before using Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S:

• Allergic reaction to Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S – indicated by skin rash, swelling around face area, wheezing, chest tightness and breathing difficulty
• Severe hepatic (liver) impairment
• Active bleeding such as peptic ulcer (stomach sore) or intracranial haemorrhage (brain bleed)
• Myocardial infarction (heart attack); do not initiate therapy within first few days
• PTCA (stenting)
• CABG (surgery improving blood flow to heart)
• Acute ischaemic stroke (blood clot in a vessel in the brain) of less than 7 days.

Precautions

Please tell your doctor about any of the following conditions while using Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S:

• Elderly
• Renal impairment
• Hepatic impairment
• Surgery
• Risk of bleeding and blood dyscrasias (disorders); perform blood counts promptly if suspected and when used with other drugs or conditions that affect bleeding. Warn patients to report unusual bleeding
• Risk of acquired haemophilia (condition characterized by inability of blood to clot); discontinue if confirmed

Interaction with other medications

Certain medications could interact with Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S, hence, in that case your doctor might alter your dosage and make sure to monitor blood sugar levels more closely.

Please inform your doctor about the use of the following before taking Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S:

• Anticoagulants
• Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors
• Thrombolytics
• NSAIDs
• SSRIs
• Pentoxifylline
• PPIs and other moderate or strong CYP2C19 inhibitors
• CYP2C8 substrates (e.g repaglinide).

Adverse effects

Like most medicines, Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S has some side effects which include:

Common:

• prolonged bleeding (you may have nosebleeds, heavier periods, bleeding gums or bruising) 
• Diarrhoea
• Indigestion or heartburn
• Stomach ache

Serious:

• Hypersensitivity/allergic skin reactions; in this case discontinue 
• Bleeding episodes
• Gastrointestinal (stomach and bowel) disorder
• Haematoma (localized bleeding outside a blood vessel)
• Nervous system disorder
• hepatic (liver) impairment
• Biliary disorder 
• Haematological (blood-related) disorders
• Rarely, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (rare blood disorder characterized by clotting in small blood vessels) and Stevens-Johnson syndrome (serious skin disorder of the skin or mucous membranes in reaction to medication).

How to cope with some of the adverse effects

• Bleeding more easily than normal – Be cautious of taking part in activities that could result in an injury or a deep cut. Always wear a helmet while cycling, gloves while using sharp objects like scissors and knives, use an electric razor instead of wet shaving, a soft toothbrush while brushing and a waxed dental floss. Contact your doctor if more than normal bleeding occurs. 

• Diarrhoea – Keep yourself hydrated by having lots of fluids and if the problem persists, consult your doctor before taking any medication for vomiting and diarrhoea

• Indigestion/heartburn – Avoid food items that cause wind. Try having smaller and more frequent meals.

• Stomach ache – Try to rest as much as possible and have smaller and more frequent meals. Using a heat pack or hot water bottle over the area in pain might help in giving some relief. If the pain still persists and is severe, speak to your doctor.

They both work to prevent blood clots and future heart attacks (if you have already had one) but the latter is not approved to prevent further strokes (if you have already had one). Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S is usually taken once a day unlike ticagrelor which is taken twice a day and Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S is known to cause less bleeding when compared to ticagrelor. 

10. IS THERE ANY FOOD OR DRINK I NEED TO AVOID WHILE TAKING Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S?

Grapefruit juice may increase the blood-thinning effect of your medicine, hence it is advised not to drink it when taking Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S. 

11. IS IT SAFE TO USE Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S FOR A LONG TIME?

Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S is generally safe to take for a long time. In fact, it works best if you take it for many months or even years. At times it may result in a stomach ulcer, but for that your doctor may prescribe a medicine to help prevent any ulcers from forming while taking Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S.

It may cause a decrease in blood pressure as a side effect. However, this is very rare and is not experienced by everyone. Consult your doctor if you feel dizzy, lightheaded, weak or have a blurred vision as these could be symptoms of low blood pressure. 

14. CAN I DRIVE OR RIDE A BIKE AFTER TAKING Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S?

Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S doesn’t affect your concentration, so you can drive or ride a bike while you’re taking it.

15. HOW SHOULD Noclot-LD 300mg Tablet 1 ‘S BE STORED?

Keep the medicine at room temperature in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Make sure it is not consumed by pets, children and other people. Dispose of the unused medicine when it is expired or no longer needed.
