Stemetil Injection 1 ml is designed to stop or lessen nausea and vomiting that patients might experience during Menderes disease, during travel, or migraines. It may also be prescribed to pregnant women in their first trimester under the care and supervision of a physician. Stemetil Injection 1 ml is available in fluid form that comes packaged in a glass vial, to be administered into a patient’s muscles by a trained healthcare professional.

How To Use Stemetil Injection 1 ml

Stemetil Injection 1 ml is injected slowly into the patient’s muscle (intramuscular) by a trained healthcare professional. The area where the needle is to pierce the skin is first disinfected with an alcohol swab or any other disinfectant that the hospital has. Then the needle was uncapped the and solution was injected into the body. The area of the skin where the needle enter may slightly bruise or remain sore for 24 hours. After the injection the needle prick is pressed down (by hand) for 20 seconds, to make sure there is no bleeding and then a band-aid is placed on top.

Dosage

Adult Dosage

Stemetil Injection 1 ml is prescribed to patients aged 18 years and above; to be ingested thrice a day. After a grace period of 15 weeks, the dosage may be decreased.

Nausea And Vomiting

Stemetil Injection 1 ml is prescribed to be administered once daily. If needed, patients may ingest oral tablets of the drug after waiting 6 hours, post-injection.

Schizophrenia

Twice or thrice a day;12.5 mg or 25 mg of the drug is prescribed until an individual’s symptoms can be managed by oral medicine.

Acute Anxiety 

10- 40 mg of the drug may be prescribed, depending upon the patient’s needs.

Child Dosage

Stemetil Injection 1 ml is not prescribed to patients aged 18 years and below. 

Elderly Dosage

Stemetil Injection 1 ml is not commonly prescribed to patients aged 65 years and above; unless necessary and then too, a lowered dosage is prescribed depending upon the patient’s weight and symptoms.

Pregnancy Use and Lactation

• Feeling drowsy -If the medication makes you feel drowsy or sleepy, stop what you’re doing and sit or lie down until you feel better, and do not rise too fast or immediately from a sitting or lying down position to a standing posture. Do not drive or use tools or machinery in case of any of these effects.
• Headaches- In which case make sure you rest and drink plenty of fluids. Avoid the use of alcohol. Take a prescribed painkiller. Consult your doctor if the headaches last longer than a week or are severe.
• Blurred vision – This side effect tends to go away on its own if a few days; patients are advised to not operate heavy machinery or drive any motorized vehicles in the meantime. If blurred vision persists, please contact your doctor.
• Muscular Aches and Pains- A hot or cold compress can be placed at the area of discomfort to bring relief; an over-the-counter pain reliever such as paracetamol or ibuprofen can be ingested to bring ease as well. Avoid high-intensity exercise while suffering from muscular pains.
