Ovi-F 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S is prescribed to women who are unable to conceive,especially due to ovarian disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome,amenorrhea-galactorrhea syndrome and similar hormonal disorders.Ovi-F 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S works by increasing secretion of FSH (which stimulates the development of the eggs or follicles in the ovaries) and LH (which causes the release of the mature egg into the fallopian tube for fertilization).Commonly,one egg is matured and released in each cycle but with Ovi-F 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S upto three eggs can be matured during one cycle and thereby increasing the chances of fertilization.

A tablet a day is prescribed and Ovi-F 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S is used for 5 days and the first dose is to be taken on the 3rd,4th or 5th day of the menstrual cycle.Ovi-F 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S is not prescribed to pregnant or lactating women nor is it safe to prescribe Ovi-F 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S to patients suffering from liver impairment/disease or women diagnosed by hormonal tumors.Ovi-F 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S may cause visual disturbances,ovarian enlargement,vasomotor flushes and dizziness;these symptoms disappear after treatment with Ovi-F 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S ends.

Indications

Ovi-F 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S can be used to treat infertility due to ovulation disorders such as:

• Polycystic ovary syndrome
• Amenorrhea-galactorrhea syndrome 
• Psychogenic amenorrhea
• Post oral contraceptive amenorrhea 

How Does Ovi-F 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S Work

FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone) are naturally present in the female body and their levels increase during the process of ovulation (a monthly cycle in female bodies,whereby a mature egg is produced by the female reproductive system).

How To Use Ovi-F 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S

Ovi-F 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S is used for 5 days and the first dose is to be taken on the 3rd,4th or 5th day of the menstrual cycle.An ultrasound can be done on the 11th or 12th day of the menstrual cycle to check and confirm the development of ovarian follicles which will lead to an ovulation cycle that can result in fertilization.

Pregnancy Use And Lactation

This drug is not to be taken or prescribed to expecting and lactating mothers as it may have fatal consequences for the unborn child.If you are taking the drug and become pregnant,inform your doctor immediately.It is unclear if Ovi-F 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S is found in breast milk but Ovi-F 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S has been reported to decrease the amount of breast milk produced and therefore,should only be taken under the careful care and advise of a physician.

• Headaches- In which case make sure you rest and drink plenty of fluids. Avoid the use of alcohol. Take a prescribed painkiller. Consult your doctor if the headaches last longer than a week or are severe
• Feeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting) or diarrhoea –Avoid eating rich or spicy food. It might help to take medication after food. If you’re being sick, try drinking small, frequent sips of water. If you have diarrhoea, replenish with plenty of water or other fluids. 
• Feeling dizzy (lightheaded) or weak –If the medication makes you feel dizzy or weak, stop what you’re doing and sit or lie down until you feel better and do not rise too fast or immediately from a sitting or lying down position to a standing posture. Do not drive or use tools or machinery in case of any of these effects.
