Dosage

Adult Dosage

As aminophylline: 250-500 mg or up to 5 mg/kg via slow in or infusion over 20-30 minutes. As aminophylline hydrate: 6 mg/kg body weight of loading dose not exceeding 25 mg/min. Most commonly, the maintenance dose for 12 hours would be 0.7mg/kg/hr reduced to 0.5mg/kg/hr beyond 12 hours. The duration is also adjusted by the dosage of medicine.

Child Dosage

Aminophylline: 1 mg/kg/hour. Aminophylline hydrate: 6 mg/kg body weight of loading dose not exceeding 25 mg/min. 

6months to 9 years: Most commonly, the maintenance dose for 12 hours would be 1.2mg/kg/hr reduced to 1mg/kg/hr beyond 12 hours. 

10-16 years:  Most commonly, the maintenance dose for 12 hours would be 1mg/kg/hr reduced to 0.8mg/kg/hr beyond 12 hours. 

Elderly Dosage

For aminophylline: 0.3mg/kg/hr. For aminophylline hydrate: 6 mg/kg body weight of loading dose not exceeding 25 mg/min. Most commonly, the maintenance dose for 12 hours would be 0.6mg/kg/hr reduced to 0.3mg/kg/hr beyond 12 hours. 

 Pregnancy Use And Lactation

Aminophylline 250mg Injection 10 ml has not been administered as safe for pregnant women but has also not shown any strong evidence of harm to pregnant women or the fetus and should still be avoided as it might have a few side effects but if considered highly necessary, It should only be consumed under the supervision and prescription of a medical expert.
