Description

About

Dopamine and acetylcholine are two of the major neurotransmitters involved in several natural mechanisms. The gastric tract also releases dopamine from the stomach and influences GIT from its upper to the lower part.Regasta 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S belongs to a class of drugs called “Prokinetic agents”, commonly referred to as gastro propulsive medicines used for the prevention and management of nauseous states. It also helps relieve symptoms of functional or non-ulcerative dyspepsia, a health condition that affects the stomach and normal bowel movements resulting in indigestion, nausea, and vomiting. As compared to some of the other propulsive drugs like Domperidone, it does not carry the same level of risk to the heart.

Regasta 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S is chemically composed of Itopride which works by blocking the action of dopamine (D2 receptors) and enhances the effects of acetylcholine via inhibition of Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in the gastric tract, providing a steady amount of acetylcholine responsible for smooth muscle contractions. The outcome of these actions is manifested in the form of enhanced gastric movements and digestion as well as increased pressure in the lower part of the esophagus (food pipe) that helps prevent the reflux of stomach contents. Through its action on the brain, it helps control vomiting too.  Regasta 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour to start working.

Regasta 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S is available in the form of oral tablets and capsules on prescription to be swallowed via mouth with a glass of water, 1 tablet is usually 2 to 3 times a day or just once if slow release (SR) formulation is being taken, follow the advice by the doctor. Do not crush or chew the tablet.  It works better if you take it at least 30 minutes before your meal. Regasta 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S can be safely prescribed to adults and children above 17 years of age. In case of pregnancy and lactation, ask your doctor first due to potentially harmful effects on the unborn baby. The most common side effects observed with Regasta 50mg Tablet 10 ‘S are drowsiness, diarrhea, fatigue, dry mouth, etc.
