How Does Zopent 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S Work

Zopent 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S contains Pantoprazole as an active ingredient. Zopent 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that covalently binds to the (H+, K+)-ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell, suppressing the final step in stomach acid generation. Regardless of the stimulus, this action inhibits both basal and induced stomach acid output. For all doses studied, binding to the (H+, K+)-ATPase results in an antisecretory action that lasts longer than 24 hours (20 mg to 120 mg). 

How To Use Zopent 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S

A qualified healthcare practitioner injects Zopent 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S into the patient’s muscles (intramuscular route) or in the patient’s vein (intravenously). An alcohol swab or any other disinfectant available at the hospital is used to disinfect the area where the needle will pierce the skin. The needle is then unscrewed, and the solution is injected slowly into the body. Zopent 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S is infused intravenously nonstop for a period of time usually given once a day for 7-10 days for the treatment of GERD and is given every 8-12hrs in conditions involving excess acid production.

Form and strength

Intravenous Infusion: 40mg

Adult Dosage 

Gastric and duodenal ulcers, and reflux esophagitis: the recommended adult dosage of Zopent 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S is one vial per day for 7-10days

Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other pathological hypersecretory conditions: Zopent 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S can be given every 8-12hrs or as recommended by your doctor.

Child Dosage

Children’s experience is limited. As a result, until further data is available, Zopent 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S is not recommended for use in individuals under the age of 18. 

Zopent 40mg Tablet 10 ‘S is used in some cases to treat GERD in children who are at least 5 years old.

Elderly Dosage  

The elderly and individuals with a low body weight do not require any dosage adjustments. 

Pregnancy Use and Lactation

• Neflinavinir
• Warfarin
• Digoxin

• Skin Rash- can be eased by applying soothing and healing lotions or creams such as calamine lotion/cream. Apply a cold compress to the rash to help reduce itchiness and redness caused by the rash. An antihistamine (prescribed by a doctor) is also recommended as an effective way to combat any skin rash.
• Soreness at the site of injection- a cold compress can be used for 5 minutes to ease out the soreness.
• Dry Mouth- Can be helped by sipping water throughout the day, chewing sugarless gum and using alcohol-free mouthwash, allowing ice to melt in the mouth, or using a saliva substitute.
• Sore throat – Can be eased by adding honey to warm drinks and having oral lozenges, to provide soothing relief to an irritated throat. Ginger tea has been known to decrease inflammation of an irritated throat thus, providing relief.
