Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml is most commonly used to enlarge the pupil so that eye tests for conditions such as Glaucoma, Macular degeneration, Diabetic retinopathy, and similar illnesses can be conducted easily and efficiently. Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml belongs to a group of chemicals known as Anticholinergics and thereby, works by preventing Acetylcholine and allowing for the relaxation of the eye muscles.

1-2 drops of Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml are to be applied. The dosage can be repeated after 10-15 minutes if need be Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml must be applied with clean hands, make sure the eyedropper or tube tip doesn’t touch the surface of the eye or any other surface. The tip of the dropper/tube and hands must be always clean before the application of Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml. Make sure to shake the Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml container well before each use and to replace the cap of the Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml immediately after each use.

Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml is not prescribed to patients under the age of 30 days and is prescribed to pregnant and lactating mothers only if necessary and under the supervision of a doctor. Mild stinging and blurred vision are common side effects that resolve on their own within 24-48 hours. Patients are asked to remain cautious during that time and not operate heavy machinery.

How Does Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml Work

Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml works by relaxing the sphincter muscles of the eye attached to the iris or the eye Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml can do this by preventing acetylcholine to elicit a nerve response that will contract the muscles.

How To Use Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml

Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml must be applied with clean hands, make sure the eyedropper or tube tip doesn’t touch the surface of the eye or any other surface. The tip of the dropper/tube and hands must be always clean before the application of Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml. Make sure to shake the Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml container well before each use and to replace the cap of the Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml immediately after each use.

To apply Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml, pull the head back slightly, then the lower eyelid is pulled down to create a small space where a drop of solution from the tip is applied. A close eye for a minute or two after Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml application, while applying pressure at the inner corner of the eye (area near the nose) to prevent the solution from draining into the nasal and/or oral passages. Do not rub or blink after applying eye drops. If the recommended dosage is more than one drop of Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml then the above steps are to be repeated.

Before applying any other eye drop that might be prescribed along with Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml, the patient is to wait 5-10 minutes. Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml is recommended to be applied at the same time each day and for the recommended period. Excess of Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml may be wiped clean with a clean tissue or cloth. Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml is not to be stopped abruptly even after experiencing a decrease in symptoms as Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml is meant to be tapered off and stopping it before time may even result in a return of the bacterial infection

There is a risk that Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml usage may result in stains on contact lenses and it is therefore advised to apply Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml a minimum of 15-20 minutes before wearing the contact lenses.

Dosage

Adult Dosage

1-2 drops are to be applied to each eye. Dosage may be repeated after 5-10 minutes if dilation of the eye is not sufficient 

Child Dosage

Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml is not prescribed to patients aged 30 days and below. For children aged 18 years and below,1-2 drops may be administered. Dosage may be repeated after 5-10 minutes if dilation of the eye is not sufficient 

Elderly Dosage 

1-2 drops are to be applied to each eye. Dosage may be repeated after 5-10 minutes if dilation of the eye is not sufficient 

Pregnancy Use And Lactation

Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml may be prescribed to expectant mothers only if and when necessary, otherwise, the physician may prescribe an alternative drug to combat the same disease. Women, planning on starting a family or those who conceive during treatment with Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml are advised to seek professional medical advice/care immediately.

Contraindications

How To Cope With Some Of The Adverse Effects

• Dry Mouth- Can be helped by sipping water throughout the day, chewing sugarless gum, using alcohol-free mouthwash, allowing ice to melt in the mouth, or using a saliva substitute.
• Skin Rash- can be eased by applying soothing and healing lotions or creams such as calamine lotion/cream. Apply a cold compress to the rash helps reduce itchiness and redness caused by the rash. An antihistamine (prescribed by a doctor) is also recommended as an effective way to combat any skin rash.
• Photosensitivity – patients are asked to wear sun-protective clothing when going outside including gloves and a hat, to apply generous amounts of broad-spectrum sunblock along with wearing sunglasses. Patients are advised to do all necessary work after sunset to reduce or eliminate sun exposure while undergoing treatment with Cyclopen 1% Drop 10 ml.
• Blurred vision – This side effect tends to go away on its own if a few days; patients are advised to not operate heavy machinery or drive any motorized vehicles in the meantime. If blurred vision persists, please contact your doctor.
