About

Novasalic Ointment 15 gm belongs to a class of topical medicines that are a combination of synthetic steroids (Glucocorticoid) and salicylates. Novasalic Ointment 15 gm is prescribed for the treatment of several inflammatory skin conditions including eczema, psoriasis, and keratosis of the skin causing callus. Novasalic Ointment 15 gm helps reduce redness and swelling as well as smoothens the skin.

Novasalic Ointment 15 gm is chemically composed of Betamethasone dipropionate and Salicylic acid. It acts by reducing inflammation exhibited by swelling and redness, as well as softens the skin surface which is then easily shed.  Therapeutic outcomes of Novasalic Ointment 15 gm have been well-received due to its dual mode of action against inflammatory skin conditions.

Novasalic Ointment 15 gm is available in the form of ointment in a tube as well as lotion form, meant for external use only. Novasalic Ointment 15 gm can be applied in a thin coat over the affected area on the skin with clean hands, twice daily. How Does Novasalic Ointment 15 gm Work

Novasalic Ointment 15 gm is more suited for inflammatory skin conditions with plaque (hardened skin) formation. It works by acting on the skin via two basic mechanisms. Firstly, Betamethasone being a Glucocorticoid controls the production of proteins that lead to inflammation by binding to Glucocorticoid receptors and interacting with DNA sequence. Also, it controls the infiltration and migration of inflammatory cells like leukocytes. It also inhibits Phospholipase A2 which speeds up the process of prostaglandin formation, a key mediator in inflammatory reactions. Novasalic Ointment 15 gm thus decreasing the inflammation. Secondly, salicylic acid being keratolytic in action overcomes excessive dryness by increasing moisture of the surface layer of skin which is consequently shed easily.

How to use Novasalic Ointment 15 gm

Novasalic Ointment 15 gm is available in the form of ointment and lotion meant for external use only to be applied with clean hands usually twice daily after washing the affected skin properly and gently drying afterward. Novasalic Ointment 15 gm is safe for use in adults and children above 2 years of age. In children, careful application and monitoring are advised to avoid accidental ingestion. Betamethasone dipropionate is a high-strength steroid, thus a prolonged application of more than 4 weeks is not advised.
