Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm belongs to a class of topical medicines containing synthetic steroids. Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm is prescribed for the treatment of several inflammatory skin conditions, suited for superficial skin conditions. These skin conditions include Dermatitis, eczema, pruritis, psoriasis, an allergic rash, etc. Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm imparts a soothing effect on inflamed and swollen skin.

Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm is chemically composed of Fluocinolone Acetonide, a powerful steroid, which acts by reducing inflammation exhibited by swelling and redness. It is advised to discuss the safety concern with your doctor first. Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm is available in the form of cream and ointment in a tube, meant for external use only. 

Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm can be applied in a thin coat over the affected area on the skin with clean hands, two to three times daily. Usually, clinical improvements can be seen in a few days and the treatment may last up to 2 weeks, as advised by your doctor. Do not use it for more than 2 weeks if there is no improvement. How Does Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm Work?

Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm is prescribed for inflammatory skin conditions. It works by acting on the skin via its basic anti-inflammatory mechanisms. Fluocinolone being a corticosteroid controls the production of proteins that lead to inflammation by binding to Glucocorticoid receptors while also exerting vasoconstrictive action on blood vessels and controlling nitric oxide production, responsible for promoting inflammation. Also, it controls the infiltration and migration of inflammatory cells like leukocytes. It also inhibits Phospholipase A2 which speeds up the process of prostaglandin formation, a key mediator in inflammatory reactions. Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm thus decreasing the inflammation. This mechanism brings down swelling, redness, and pain and helps restore normal skin.

How to use Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm?

Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm is available in the form of gel, ointment, and cream meant for external use only to be applied with clean hands usually two to three times daily after washing the affected skin properly and gently drying afterward. Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm is safe for use in adults and children above 2 years of age. Doctors must always be consulted first when using Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm in children, careful application and monitoring are thus advised to avoid accidental ingestion. 

Fluocinolone is a steroid, thus a prolonged application is not advised.

Usage

  • Wash and gently pat dry your skin before applying the Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm. 
  • Remove the cap by gently rotating it, break the top seal with the help of the pointed end given on the outer cap
  • Take out a small amount of {{product} on fingertips and gently rub it in to form a thin, even coat over the affected area.
  • Wash your hands after application, an additional amount can be reapplied if Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm gets wiped off from any part.
  • In areas with hair growth make sure to apply gently by parting the hair sideways
  • {{product} is applied to the skin commonly two to three times a day for 7-10 days or as per the doctor’s suggestion
  • Avoid wrapping the area with tight dressings unless advised by your doctor

Dosage

Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm is not used for very long periods. Treatment is commonly prescribed for 7-10 days, if there’s no improvement in your symptoms after 7 days of application, consult your doctor who may consider changing the medicine for you. Dosage for the cream/ointment/gel form can be estimated on the fingertips

Adult Dosage

A thin film of Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm is to be applied two to three times a day, or as instructed by a physician.

A small amount on the fingertips should be gently rubbed in. Application on the face is not advised for more than 5 days 

Child Dosage

Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm must not be used on children without consulting a doctor. It is not considered safe for application in patients aged 2 years and younger. Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm is not recommended for use for more than 7 days. Smaller amounts should be applied to a child’s body sensitive’s body. Moreover, infants and children are likely to absorb more through the skin which can potentially result in side effects. 

Only a pea-sized quantity on the fingertip is sufficient to cover the affected skin. Do not use Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm to treat diaper rash in infants.

Elderly Dosage 

For elderly patients the dosage of the drug may be lower than normal due to decreased kidney function and other risk factors, although Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm is absorbed through the skin in insignificant amounts but may pose a problem in elderly patients so, in such cases the doctor may prescribe an altered dose of the Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm.

Pregnancy use and lactation

Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm is FDA Classified category C and should not be applied during pregnancy, therefore if you are pregnant, or are planning to start a family, please do discuss Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm with your doctor before using it, who will only prescribe if deemed necessary.

List Of How to Deal with Adverse Effects

  • Allergic Reactions – Allergic reactions to the drug may be mild to severe or potentially could be life-threatening. If allergy is suspected immediately take anti-allergy (antihistamine) medicine which will stop the mild reaction. If a serious allergic reaction is suspected rush to the nearby hospital and avoid Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm and drugs with similar compounds in the future.
  • Skin Rash/ Blisters – can be eased by applying soothing and healing lotions or creams such as calamine or organic aloe vera lotion/cream. Apply a cold compress to the rash to help reduce itchiness and redness caused by the rash. An antihistamine (prescribed by a doctor) is also recommended as an effective way to combat any skin rash.
  • Dryness – apply a moisturizer to the skin and wait for 10-15 minutes after which apply Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm onto the skin. This will prevent skin from getting dry and flaky.
  • Headaches – In which case make sure you rest and drink plenty of fluids. Avoid the use of alcohol. Take a prescribed painkiller. Consult your doctor if the headaches last longer than a week or are severe
  • Feeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting) or diarrhea – Avoid eating rich or spicy food. It might help to take medication after food. If you’re sick, try drinking small, frequent sips of water. 
  • Feeling dizzy (lightheaded) or weak – If the medication makes you feel dizzy or weak, stop what you’re doing and sit or lie down until you feel better, and do not rise too fast or immediately from a sitting or lying down position to a standing posture. Do not drive or use tools or machinery in case of any of these effects.
  • Blurred vision- This side effect tends to go away on its own in a few days; patients are advised to not operate heavy machinery or drive any motorized vehicles in the meantime. If blurred vision persists, please contact your doctor.
  • Photosensitivity – patients are asked to wear sun-protective clothes when going outside including gloves and a hat, to apply generous amounts of broad-spectrum sunblock along with wearing sunglasses. Patients are advised to do all necessary work after sunset to reduce or eliminate sun exposure while undergoing treatment with Synalar 0.03% Cream 30 gm.
