Advacort 0.10% Ointment 5 gm belongs to a group of chemicals known as corticosteroids and aids in reducing swelling,redness and itchiness associated in conditions such as eczema,allergies,dermatitis and various skin rashes.Corticosteroids work by inhibiting the production of proteins that lead to inflammation.
A thin layer of Advacort 0.10% Ointment 5 gm is to be applied on the skin with clean hands 1-2 times per day or as advised by the physician.Advacort 0.10% Ointment 5 gm is to be used under the care and supervision of a doctor and for a specified period of time only.Application/usage of Advacort 0.10% Ointment 5 gm is not be stopped abruptly as that may lead to a recurrence of the ailment,therefore,Advacort 0.10% Ointment 5 gm is gradually tapered off.Patients are advised to not stop using the Advacort 0.10% Ointment 5 gm once they see or feel an improvement in their symptoms,which is likely to occur 2-3 weeks after starting treatment with Advacort 0.10% Ointment 5 gm.
Mild side effects such as a stinging or burning sensation may be felt at the time of application for a few days.Advacort 0.10% Ointment 5 gm is not considered safe to be prescribed to children under one year of age,nor to pregnant and breastfeeding women.Advacort 0.10% Ointment 5 gm should not be prescribed to patients with known sensitivity to Advacort 0.10% Ointment 5 gm or corticosteroids.

- Endogenous eczema (for eg:atopic dermatitis, neurodermatitis)
- Contact eczema (skin flare-up triggered by a particular substance)
- Blisters on soles of feet or palms of hand
- Vulgar eczema
- Eczema in children.

Corticosteroids work by inhibiting the production of proteins that lead to inflammation by interacting with the human DNA sequence and preventing the transcription of proteins needed in an inflammatory process.

Adult Dosage
A thin film of Advacort 0.10% Ointment 5 gm is to be applied once or twice a day,as instructed by a physician.
Child Dosage
Advacort 0.10% Ointment 5 gm is not deemed safe enough to be prescribed to patients aged 12 months and younger.For patients aged 13 months and above,Advacort 0.10% Ointment 5 gm is prescribed only when necessary and under the care and supervision of a doctor.
Elderly Dosage
For patients aged 65 years and above,Advacort 0.10% Ointment 5 gm is prescribed only when necessary and under the care and supervision of a doctor.A small dose of Advacort 0.10% Ointment 5 gm is prescribed and for a limited number of days
Pregnancy Use And Lactation
