About

Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm is an immunomodulating agent. Immunomodulating agents are substances that stimulate or suppress the immune system and may help the body fight cancer, infection, or other diseases. Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm comes in tablet and ointment form. Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm is used to treat atopic dermatitis. 

Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm is given to adults who are not adequately responsive to or are intolerant of conventional therapies such as topical corticosteroids. Use of Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm is contraindicated in people who are allergic to the active substance of Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm or to macrolide antibiotics. 

Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm is not suitable for infants under the age of 2. Possible side effects are itching, burning sensation, redness, and pain. Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm works by inhibiting the activity of T-lymphocytes. 

Indications

Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm can be used for

  • Second-line therapy for short-term and non-continuous and chronic treatment of atopic dermatitis in non-immunocompromised adults and children. 

How Does Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm Work

{{product’s}} mechanism of action is based on calcineurin inhibition. This causes decreased T-cell activation and inflammatory cytokine release. Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm also inhibits the release of preformed mediators from skin mast cells and basophils. A decrease in T-cells aids in the treatment of skin symptoms. 

How To Use Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm

Always use Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm as your doctor tells you. Apply Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm ointment as a thin layer to affected areas of your skin. Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm may be used on most parts of the body, including the face and neck and in the creases of your elbows and knees. Do not use Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm inside your nose or mouth or in your eyes. If the ointment gets on any of these areas, it should be thoroughly wiped off and/or rinsed off with water. Do not cover the skin being treated with bandages. Before applying Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm after a bath or shower, be sure your skin is completely dry. Avoid showering, or swimming immediately after applying the ointment as water may wash off the medicine.

Dosage

Adults

The recommended application dose for 0.03% and 0.1% is twice a day until lesions clear. When the lesions start to clear you can switch to 0.03% potency if conditions allow. 

Children

The recommended application dose for 2-16-year-olds is a thin layer of 0.03% {product}} twice daily for up to 3 weeks. Then apply once daily till the condition clears.

The Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm is not recommended in under 2 years of age. 

Pregnancy and Lactation

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm. 

Contraindications

Inform your doctor if you have a history of any of the following before using Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm:

  • Allergic to active ingredients of Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm.
  • Have genetic epidermal barrier defects.
  • In pregnancy and lactation.

Inform your doctor about any of the following conditions before using Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm

  • Liver failure
  • Skin malignancies
  • A weak immune system
  • Have inherited skin barrier disease
  • Have swollen lymph nodes
  • Have infected lesions
  • Graft-versus host disease

Interactions With Other Medications

Inform your doctor about the use of the following before using Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm

  • Erythromycin
  • Itraconazole
  • Ketoconazole
  • Fluconazole
  • Calcium channel blocker
  • Cimetidine

Adverse Effects

Like most medicines Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm has certain side effects which include

  • Burning sensation and itching
  • Redness
  • Feeling of warmth
  • Pain
  • Increased skin sensitivity (to hot and cold)
  • Skin tingling and irritation
  • Rash
  • Local skin infection

How To Cope With Adverse Effects

Pain- Take an over-the-counter pain medication. If pain persists, consult your doctor. 

Burning sensation and Itching- Use of a moisturizer and a gradual increase in the dose of topical Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm are recommended for the prevention of burning sensation and itching. 

Skin Rash-  Can be eased by applying soothing and healing lotions or creams such as calamine lotion/cream. Apply a cold compress to the rash helps reduce itchiness and redness caused by the rash. An antihistamine (prescribed by a doctor) is also recommended as an effective way to combat any skin rash.

Redness Of The Skin-  Can be combated by applying a cold pack to the affected area.

Local Skin Infection- A local skin infection can be treated by specific antibiotics.

Drinking alcohol may cause the skin or face to become flushed or red and feel hot. Hence it is not recommended to consume alcohol when using Imunol 0.03% Ointment 10 gm.

If you accidentally swallow the {{PRODUCT]], consult your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible. Do not try to induce vomiting.
