INTRAVENOUS ROUTE

ADULT DOSAGE: Most commonly a range from 250mg – 1gm of Cilapen 250mg Injection 1 vial is infused slowly into the patient’s veins; this dosage may be repeated after 6 or 8 hours if need be.

PROPHYLACTICALLY: 1gm may be administered along with the introduction of anesthesia into the body, this dose may be repeated after 3 hours depending upon the time duration of the surgery.

INTRAMUSCULAR ROUTE

ADULT DOSAGE: Most commonly, a range from 500mg to 750mg of Cilapen 250mg Injection 1 vial is injected slowly into the patient’s muscles; this dosage may be repeated after 12 hours. The dosage should not exceed 1.5gm a day.

CHILD DOSAGE: Cilapen 250mg Injection 1 vial is not prescribed to patients aged 3 months and younger; individuals older than 3 months of age can be prescribed 15mg/kg and the dose may be repeated after 6 hours if need be. Dosage is should not exceed 2gm a day.

How To Use Cilapen 250mg Injection 1 vial

Cilapen 250mg Injection 1 vial is injected into the patient’s muscles (intramuscular pathway) most commonly or into the patient’s vein (intravenously) by a trained healthcare professional. The area where the needle is to pierce the skin is first disinfected with an alcohol swab or any other disinfectant that the hospital has. Then the needle is uncapped, and the solution is injected into the body. The solution is injected slowly. The area of the skin where the needle enters may slightly bruise or remain sore for 24 hours. After the injection, the needle prick is pressed down (by hand) for 20 seconds to ensure there is no bleeding and then a band-aid is placed on top. It is advised to not mix Cilapen 250mg Injection 1 vial with other medicines. The patient is advised to take each dose simultaneously each day, keeping a 6- or 8-12-hour gap between each dose.
