{{PRODUCT}} is an anticonvulsant or antiepileptic drug. It is used to avoid and control partial-onset seizures. Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml works by decreasing the spread of seizure activity in the brain. Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml comes in tablet, syrup, and injection form. Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml is combined with other medications to treat tonic-clonic (involve whole-body) seizures. {{PRODUCT}} is not recommended in individuals below the age of 16.

Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml should be used with caution in patients with cardiac history as it may cause heart block, coronary artery disease, and fibrillations. Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml causes adverse effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, nausea, and vomiting. 

Indications

Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml is indicated in the following conditions:

•         Temporal Lobe Epilepsy
•         Complex Partial Seizures
•         Generalized Seizures or Bilateral Tonic-Clonic Seizures
•         Simple Partial Seizure

 HOW DOES Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml WORK?

The Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml selectively enhances the slow inactivation of voltage-gated sodium channels, which results in stabilization of hyperexcitable neuronal membranes and causes inhibition of repetitive neuronal firing. This helps in controlling seizures.

 HOW TO USE Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml?

The dosage of Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. To lower the chances of side effects doctors may start dosage from a lower dose and increase gradually. Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml works best when it is kept at a constant level in the body and is taken at evenly spaced times. Do not stop taking Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml abruptly as it may worsen the seizures.

• Take Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml via mouth with or without food usually twice a day.
• While using the liquid form of the Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml, carefully measure the dose using a special measuring device/spoon. It is not recommended to use a household spoon because you may not get the required dosage.
• Your doctor will decide the dose of Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml based on your body weight. The usual starting dose is 1 mg (0.1 ml), for each kilogram (kg) of body weight, twice a day. 

Dosage

• MONOTHERAPY:

The usual starting dose ofLalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml is 50 mg (5 ml) twice a day. Your doctor may also prescribe a starting dose of 100 mg (10 ml) of Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml twice a day. Your doctor may increase your daily dose every week by 50 mg (5 ml). This will be until you reach a maintenance dose of between 100 mg (10 ml) and 300 mg (30 ml) twice a day. 

• DUAL THERAPY:

When you take {{PRODUCT}} in combination with other antiepileptic medicines the usual starting dose of {{product} is 50 mg (5 ml) twice a day. Your doctor may increase your twice-daily dose every week by 50 mg (5 ml). This will be until you reach a maintenance dose of between 100 mg (10 ml) and 200 mg (20 ml) twice a day. 

 SWITCHING FROM ORAL TO INTRAVENOUS DOSING:

When switching from oral Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml the initial total daily intravenous dosage of Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml should be equivalent to the total daily dosage and frequency of oral Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml and should be given IV over 30 to 60 minutes.

 SWITCHING FROM INTRAVENOUS TO ORAL DOSING:

At the end of the intravenous treatment period, the patient may be switched to oral Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml administration at the equivalent daily dosage and frequency of the intravenous administration.

 PATIENTS WITH RENAL IMPAIRMENT:

No dose adjustment is necessary for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. A maximum dose of 300mg/day of Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml is recommended for patients with severe renal impairment.

PATIENTS WITH HEPATIC IMPAIRMENT:

The dose calculation should be done with caution in patients with hepatic impairment. A maximum dose of 300mg/day is recommended for patients with mild or moderate hepatic impairment. Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml is not recommended in patients with severe hepatic impairment.

Pregnancy And Lactation

There are no satisfactory and well-controlled studies about the Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml in pregnant women. Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml should be used during pregnancy only if the possible benefit validates the possible risk to the fetus.

Lactating Mothers: It is not known whether Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml is excreted in human milk. Some reports suggest that it is. Consult a doctor before using.  

Contraindications

The Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml is contraindicated in various conditions. Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:

•         Suicidal thoughts
•         Orthostatic hypotension
•         Liver problems

•         Pregnancy
