In adults, via intravenous route, repeat a single dose of 200-400 mg IV every 8-12 hours. Cycin 100mg Injection 50 ml is given via slow infusion for over 60 minutes. The minimum interval should be 6 hours in severe infections. For infusion purposes Cycin 100mg Injection 50 ml can be diluted with some compatible IV solutions such as sodium chloride, and ringers lactate, ratio and mixing must be accurate. 

Dosage

Adults

• Lower respiratory tract Infection 

           Mild-moderate: 200 mg IV, twice daily 8-12 hours for 1-2 weeks 

           Severe: 400 mg/20 ml (IV)twice daily or 400 mg/40 ml (IV) thrice daily for 1-2 weeks.

• Skin infection  

          Mild-moderate:  200 mg/100 ml (IV), twice daily for 1-2 weeks. 

           Severe: 400 mg /40 ml (IV) twice daily for 1-2 weeks.

• UTI 

           Mild/moderate (uncomplicated): 200 mg/100 ml IV twice daily at 8-12 hours, 1-2 weeks

          Severe/complicated: 400 mg/40 ml, IV twice daily for 1-2 weeks

• Acute uncomplicated cystitis: 200 mg IV, twice daily for 3 days.
• Inhalation anthrax: 400 mg twice daily, IV every 12 hours for 60 days after confirmed or suspected exposure.
• Bone infection:  400 mg (IV) twice daily for 4-8 weeks

Children:

Indicated for the following when no other safe alternative is available:

• Complicated UTI/Pyelonephritis: 1-17 years, 6 -10 mg/kg twice daily for 10-21 days. Max safe dose: 400 mg/dose
• Inhalation anthrax: 10mg/kg twice daily, every 12 hours for 60 days after confirmed or suspected exposure. Max safe dose: 400 mg/dose.
